Hi, I’m Roger
My career as a web developer started over fifteen years ago, during an internship at a budding advertising agency in Austin, TX.
“One of our clients needed a website and I wanted to help, but they hired a third party to do the web development. Frustrated, I bought an HTML reference book and started making a personal website on my own.”
And the rest is history…
After graduating with a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, I entered the workforce selling computers for DELL while honing my web design skills in my spare time.
“Working at DELL was great, but I really wanted to make websites for a living.”
So I quit and opened up shop as Mach 1 Media making websites for bands, musicians, friends, non-profits and other referrals. Crazy, I know.
Later, I moved to El Paso with my new wife Karly where I worked for Stanton Street Technology Group managing their Continuing Services department. It was truly a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ job. After a new website launched, I handled pretty much everything the client needed. I worked with some great people and established lasting friendships, but Austin’s gravity proved too strong and I eventually moved back with Karly and our new daughter Aubry.
Since moving back to Austin I’ve been employed with:
- the Catholic Diocese of Austin as Director of Web Services,
- White Lion Internet Agency as a member of the production team, and
- a young startup Risk Designers consulting in all aspects of the business
…all the while freelancing and consulting on projects as Mach 1 Media.
Today I’m happy to say that I’m fully self-employed, investing 100% of my professional experience and services into new and interesting projects, so contact me today to discuss your ideas.
